Walk With Emi ("the app") is operated by Port Point LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions: privacy@walkwithemi.com.
To operate the app: show your progress, calculate challenge standings, connect you with friends, send notifications you have enabled, and protect against abuse or fraudulent step data. We do not use your information to build advertising profiles.
Consistent with Apple's requirements, health and fitness data obtained through HealthKit is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold or shared with data brokers, and never disclosed to third parties except as needed to operate the features you use. You can revoke our access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
You control who can see your daily and weekly step totals, under Account → Step Sharing. By default that is the friends you have accepted, plus anyone in a group with you; you can narrow it to your groups only, turn it off entirely, or hide your steps from a specific person. Friends can always see your badges and challenge results, and challenge participants can see your totals for that challenge — those are the point of joining one. Friend groups are opt-in: being added to a group does nothing until you accept, and members of a group can see each other’s step totals while they are in it. Removing a friend, leaving a group, or changing your sharing setting stops future sharing. Private direct messages are end-to-end encrypted: they are encrypted on your device, we cannot read them, and we do not retain message content on our servers after delivery.
We use Google Firebase (authentication, database, cloud functions, and push messaging) to run the app; data is stored on Google Cloud servers in the United States. Apple provides push notification delivery and, for subscriptions, payment processing — we never receive your payment card details.
We keep your information while your account is active. You may delete your account in
the app under Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your profile,
step history, friendships, pending requests, and interactions. Completed challenge records
may retain an anonymized entry so other participants' history stays intact. Backups are
purged on a rolling basis.
Walk With Emi is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
You can access and correct your profile in the app, delete your account at any time, and control notifications and Health access in iOS Settings. Depending on where you live (for example, California or the EU/UK), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise them.
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our infrastructure providers, access is restricted by server-side security rules, and private messages are end-to-end encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
We will update this page and revise the date above when this policy changes. Material changes will be announced in the app.
